Midway Utah is a charming, small town located in the Heber Valley, about 3 miles west of Heber City, 18 miles south of Park City, and 50 miles from Salt Lake International Airport. It is nestled at the base of the area known as the Wasatch Back – which is the opposite side of the Wasatch Mountains from Salt Lake City. The population was last recorded in 2010 at 3,845.
Midway is best known as the home of Soldier Hollow - site of the 2002 Winter Olympics cross-country and biatholon events. It also has a local following for it’s its geo-thermal caldera located at the Homestead Resort. The water temperature is 90-95 degrees year round, making this a popular destination for scuba diving, yoga on stand-up paddleboards, or just a relaxing soak!
The weather in Midway Utah is usually warm to hot summers, and cold to extremely cold winters. At an elevation of 5,584 feet, they typically see less snow than their neighbors in Park City.
There are limited amenities in Midway, so residents do most of their shopping in nearby Heber City. The one “main street” hosts a handful of shops and eateries. Many of the older homes and buildings reflect the Swiss heritage of this small mountain town. However, there are many new developments of single-family homes, twin homes, and condos that bringing in a more mountain modern aesthetic.
Midway is made up of about 50% full-time residents. The area is growing in popularity with vacation/resort homeowners due to its abundance of year-round activities, scenic golf courses, mountain biking and hiking trails, easy access to nearby ski resorts, and lower home prices than it’s more famous neighbor – Park City.
